The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
heat advisory, which is in effect from 8 am this morning to 9 PM
PDT this evening.

* Temperatures... Max temperatures will range from the 90s to
around 105 degrees across the San Fernando Valley, with highs
ranging from the upper 90s to around 103 across the Santa
Clarita valley today.

* Impacts... the very high temperatures will create a dangerous
situation in which there is an increased threat of heat
related illnesses. Temperatures inside vehicles, even if the
windows are partially open, can quickly rise to life-
threatening levels. The extended heat wave will also bring
elevated fire danger through the weekend.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
