Statement as of 4:18 am MST on February 14, 2012


... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am MST
Wednesday...

* timing... widespread snow is expected through today and tonight.

* Snow accumulation... 4 to 8 inches of new snow with locally
higher amounts in the San Juan Mountains.

* Winds... southwest 10 to 15 mph with occasional gusts up to 25
mph. Winds will shift to the west tonight. Gusty and erratic
winds possible near heavy showers this afternoon and evening.

* Visibility... 1 to 2 miles in snow dropping to less than one
mile at times during periods of heavier snow.

* Impacts... mountain roads and highways will become icy and snow
packed. Travel will also be affected by reduced visibilities
and areas of blowing and drifting snow over the passes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and/or
blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
