The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 6 am Tuesday to midnight MST Tuesday night. * Timing... widespread snow is expected to develop early Tuesday then continue through Tuesday evening. * Snow accumulation... 5 to 10 inches of new snow with locally higher amounts are possible. * Winds... south 10 to 15 mph with occasional gusts up to 25 mph. Winds will shift to the west Tuesday evening. * Visibility... 1 to 2 miles in snow dropping to less than one mile at times during periods of heavier snow. * Impacts... mountain roads and highways will become icy and snow packed. Travel will also be affected by reduced visibilities and areas of blowing and drifting snow over the passes. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and/or blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving. |
