Watches & Warnings

High Surf Advisory
Issued: 3:34 PM GMT Aug. 16, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect until 5 am Monday...

* waves and surf... surf will remain hazardous at 8 to 12 feet along
south facing reefs... and between 7 and 10 feet along west facing
reefs.

* Timing... the hazardous surf on south facing reefs will remain
hazardous through Friday night. Surf along west facing reefs will
remain hazardous through at least Sunday night.

* Impacts... there will be a high risk of rip currents on south and
west facing reefs... which could be of particular concern at the
rather busy Tumon Bay in Guam.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Avoid venturing near reef lines and beaches... especially those
facing south and east... and west starting tonight. Large breaking
waves can knock you down and cause serious injuries. Strong rip
currents will be life threatening.

If you become caught in a rip current... swim parallel to shore
and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim
directly against a rip current.
