High Surf Advisory
Issued: 6:37 AM GMT Aug. 16, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory in effect until 5 am chst Monday...

The National Weather Service in tiyan has issued a high surf
advisory, which is in effect until 5 am chst Monday.

* Waves and surf... surf is becoming hazardous at 7 to 10 feet along
south facing reefs. Surf along west facing reefs will become
hazardous at 7 to 10 feet tonight.

* Timing... the hazardous surf on south facing reefs will build an
additional foot tonight then remain hazardous through Friday night.
Surf along west facing reefs will become hazardous tonight then
remain hazardous through at least Sunday night. Surf on north
facing reefs could briefly become hazardous around Monday.

* Impacts... there will be a high risk of rip currents on south and
east facing reefs... and later west facing reefs... which could be
of particular concern at the rather busy Tumon Bay in Guam.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Avoid venturing near reef lines and beaches... especially those
facing south and east... and west starting tonight. Large breaking
waves can knock you down and cause serious injuries. Strong rip
currents will be life threatening.

If you become caught in a rip current... swim parallel to shore
and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim
directly against a rip current.
