High Surf Advisory
Issued: 4:34 PM HST Nov. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory in effect from 6 am Sunday to 6 PM HST
Monday for north facing shores...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf
advisory, which is in effect from 6 am Sunday to 6 PM HST Monday.

* Surf... on Oahu, Molokai and Maui, surf along north facing shores
will rise to 18 to 22 feet. On The Big Island, surf along north
facing shores will rise to 12 to 18 feet.

* Timing... surf will reach advisory levels Sunday morning for the
smaller islands, and by midday on The Big Island. Surf will peak
late Sunday or early Monday, before beginning to trend downward.

* Impacts... moderate... expect strong breaking waves, shore break,
and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult
and dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by
ocean safety officials and exercise caution. When in doubt, do
not go out.
