... Service area change for NOAA Weather Radio station wxj-71 in
Peoria...

Effective Monday, August 27th at noon CDT, a change will be made
to the service area of NOAA Weather Radio (nwr) station wxj-71 in
Peoria. Forecast and warning information for Putnam County will no
longer be included in the broadcast.

Putnam County is on the fringe of reliable reception from wxj-71.
Another NWR station, wxl-22, was installed many years ago near
Princeton, in nearby Bureau County. This station is only about 10
miles from Putnam County, and provides a solid signal across the
entire County. Wxl-22 currently includes Putnam County in its
service area, so wxj-71 listeners in the County should tune their
radio receivers to wxl-22 between now and August 27th.

* other counties in the wxl-22 service area: Bureau (017011),
Henry (017073), La Salle (017099), Lee (017103), Marshall

Station wxj-71 in Peoria, which operates on a frequency of 162.475
mhz, will continue to air forecasts and warnings for the following
counties: Fulton, Knox, Marshall, Mason, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell,
and Woodford.
