Flood Warning
Issued: 10:13 PM CST Feb. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the White River at Hazleton.
* From late Wednesday night until further notice.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 22.1
feet early Wednesday morning.
* At 22.0 feet... in agricultural season, extensive flooding of
bottomlands and some of the higher bottomlands is in progress.
High water surrounds residents in river Cabins. Oil fields and
local roads flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the White River at Petersburg.
* From Wednesday afternoon until further notice.
* At 10:30 PM Monday the stage was 14.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Wednesday afternoon and
continue to rise to near 21.5 feet by Tuesday evening.
* At 21.3 feet... State Road 257 south of Washington began to flood
during may 2008 after local rains of more than an inch on very wet
soils with Petersburg at 21.3 feet and rising and Shoals at 15.5
feet and rising.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
* From Thursday evening until further notice.
* At 9:45 PM Monday the stage was 10.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Thursday before midnight and
continue to rise to near 25.9 feet by Thursday morning. Additional
rises are possible thereafter.
* At 26.0 feet... relocation to higher ground of cattle and some farm
equipment is necessary. Agricultural losses are near 100 percent
in areas that are not protected by levees. Extensive lowland
flooding in western Gibson County Indiana.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Vincennes.
* From Thursday morning until further notice.
* At 10:45 PM Monday the stage was 5.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late Thursday morning and
continue to rise to near 23.5 feet by Wednesday evening. Additional
rises are possible thereafter.
* At 24.0 feet... water is at critical stage for portions of the
Brevoort Levee and Russell-Allison levees. Seep water becomes a
problem in rural areas protected by levees. Commercial and a few
residential areas flood along old Vincennes Road. Extensive
agricultural flooding is in progress.

The Flood Warning continues for the Wabash River at New Harmony
* from Friday evening until further notice.
* At 9 PM Monday the stage was 8.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage Friday evening and crest
near 18.9 feet March 1. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact... at 19.0 feet... Harmonie State Park is closed. Surrounding
bottomland is flooded.

Subject: relocation of forecast site for the Wabash River at Terre
         Haute

The forecast location for the Wabash River at Terre Haute will move
from the current site at the Indiana America water company to a New
Site 3,400 feet downstream. The new location will be near the
Theodore dreiser Memorial bridge eastbound Lane of U.S. Highway 150.
This change will occur by April 1, 2018. Forecasts for the Indiana
America water company site will continue through March 31, 2018.

At the New Site, river readings and forecast levels will be 2.0-2.5
feet higher than at the current site. The NWS has adjusted impact
levels for Terre Haute according to the new gauge placement. The
flood stage has been adjusted from 14 feet to 16.5 feet.

The U.S. Geological survey will conduct monitoring and analysis at
the New Site to ensure it produces flow and stage information of the
current site to tie back to the long-term record.
