Light to moderate snow continues to move across portions of northeast Illinois this afternoon...but with an enhanced area of more moderate to possibly heavy snow at times currently developing over the lake and Cook County shores. This will continue to develop with snow intensity increasing into the early evening. With strong northerly winds and blowing snow...visibility could be reduced significantly with one quarter mile or less visibility possible at times. Area travelers should use caution late this afternoon into the early evening as conditions will quickly become hazardous with snow likely accumulating on area roadways.

Tonight

Windy. Snow showers this evening...mainly before 9 PM for the North Metro. Periods of heavy snow this evening across southern and eastern Cook County. Areas of blowing snow in the evening. Snow accumulation tonight of 2 to 4 inches in central and southeast Cook County. Total storm accumulation 1 to 3 inches north to 3 to 5 inches south. Lows 10 to 14... except 14 to 18 downtown. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph at times. Chance of precipitation 100 percent.

Mostly sunny. Highs around 20. Wind chills as low as zero to 10 below zero. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the morning.

Mostly clear. Lows 9 to 13 above. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph.
