Flood Warning
Issued: 3:38 PM EST Feb. 24, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Sugar Creek at New Palestine.
* From late tonight until further notice.
* At 2:45 PM Saturday the stage was 6.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by after midnight tomorrow and
continue to rise to near 9.6 feet by tomorrow morning.
* At 9.5 feet... extensive lowland flooding in progress along Sugar
Creek in New Palestine area. Local river roads closed by high
water. Flooding of some residential property and backyards begins.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Indiana, east central Indiana, south
central Indiana, southeast Indiana, southwest Indiana, and
west central Indiana, including the following areas, in
central Indiana, Bartholomew, Boone, Clinton, Decatur,
Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Howard, Johnson, Madison,
Marion, Morgan, rush, Shelby, and Tipton. In east central
Indiana, Delaware, Henry, and Randolph. In south central
Indiana, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence, and Monroe. In southeast
Indiana, Jennings. In southwest Indiana, Daviess, Greene,
Knox, Martin, and Sullivan. In west central Indiana, Clay,
Fountain, Montgomery, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Vermillion, and
Vigo.

* Through Sunday morning

* additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected through
Sunday morning, in areas that have already received
significant rainfall over the past few days. This will likely
worsen flooding on area waterways and lead to flooding of
other streams, low lying areas, and poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
