Flood Warning
Issued: 9:00 PM CST Feb. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for the Ohio River at Evansville
* from late Wednesday night to Friday March 02.
* At 8 PM Tuesday the stage was 41.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 42.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage Thursday morning and
crest near 43.7 feet next Tuesday.
* Impact... at 42.0 feet... the river is 3300 feet wide.

The Flood Warning continues for the Ohio River at the Newburgh dam
* until further notice.
* At 8 PM Tuesday the stage was 45.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 38.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will crest near 46.5 feet next Monday.
* Impact... at 46.0 feet... Highway 662 near the old lock and dam 47
begins to flood. This is approximately 1/2 mile downstream from the
current lock and dam.

The Flood Warning continues for the Ohio River at Mount Vernon
* until further notice.
* At 6 am Tuesday the stage was 39.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will crest near 43.8 feet Wednesday Feb 28.
* Impact... at 45.0 feet... large portions of point township in Posey
County are flooded.

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 9:03 AM CST Feb. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through late Saturday night...

The Flood Watch continues for

* all of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, southwest Indiana
and western Kentucky.

* Through late Saturday night

* multiple rounds of rain, moderate to heavy at times will
increase the risk for areal flooding through the end of the
week, primarily from Thursday night through Saturday night.
Isolated low land and poor drainage areal flooding cannot be
ruled out before then.

* The main flooding concern will be along small streams and
creeks that feed into already swollen rivers across the
region. Especially in areas that receive multiple rounds of
moderate to heavy rainfall. Elsewhere, elevated water levels
in low lying and poor drainage areas may lead to standing
water across some roads that typically flood.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
