Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 12:16 PM CDT Aug. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Franklin County in east central Kansas...
southern Douglas County in east central Kansas...
northeastern Osage County in east central Kansas...

* until 815 PM CDT Tuesday

* at 1211 PM CDT, emergency management continues to report flooding
of many rural roads in northern Franklin and southern Douglas
counties. Smaller creeks are starting to recede, but the main
streams and rivers are still rising and County roads are likely
to remain flooded well into the afternoon.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Ottawa, Baldwin City, Wellsville, Overbrook, Centropolis, Pomona,
Quenemo, Lone Star, Princeton, Rantoul, Pleasant Grove, Vinland and
Globe.

This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 173 and 198.

This warning replaces the previous two flood warnings set to expire
at 1230 am CDT and 1245 am CDT.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wakarusa river near Lawrence 4s.
* From this morning to Wednesday morning.
* At 8:45 am Tuesday the stage was 23.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 24.6 feet by this
afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage this evening.
* Impact... at 25.0 feet... Road 1150 east floods.
