Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 4:46 AM EST Dec. 12, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 am EST
Wednesday...

* what... heavy lake effect snow occurring. Plan on difficult
travel conditions, including during the morning commute. Snow
accumulations of 4 to 9 inches, with localized amounts up to 11
inches, are expected.

* Where... in Indiana, St. Joseph in and Elkhart counties. In
Michigan, Berrien and Cass mi counties.

* When... until 7 am EST Wednesday.

* Additional details... winds gusting as high as 40 mph will
cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy lake effect snow means
significant amounts of lake effect snow are forecast that will
make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel,
keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case

... Lakeshore flood advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST
/3 PM CST/ this afternoon...

* Lake Shore flooding... minor Lakeshore flooding and beach
erosion will be possible as northwest winds of 35 to 45 mph
will generate waves of 12 to 16 feet.

* Timing... through the day.

* Impacts... the combination of high waves, strong onshore winds
and high water levels will result in some beach erosion and
minor flooding along the Lakeshore. The high waves will wash
over piers and jetties creating dangerous conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Lakeshore flood advisory indicates that onshore winds will
generate flooding of low areas along the Lakeshore.
