Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:13 PM CDT Jul. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
southwestern Clay County in west central Missouri...
southeastern Platte County in west central Missouri...

* until 1215 am CDT

* at 912 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City, Liberty, Gladstone, Parkville, North Kansas City,
Riverside, Weatherby Lake, Claycomo, Pleasant Valley, Lake
Waukomis, Glenaire, Avondale, Platte Woods, Oakview, Northmoor,
Houston Lake, River Bend, Kansas City downtown, Oakwood Park and
Oakwood.

Additional rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is possible over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor to moderate flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
