... For the Shoal Creek near Joplin...
* at 12:00 PM Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will rise to near 12.2 feet this evening.

* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
around midnight.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet... flood waters innundate Wildcat State Park.

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 630 PM CST Sunday for
Cherokee... Newton... McDonald... Barry... Lawrence... Jasper and Dade
counties...

At 912 am CST, the Department of Transportation reported flooding
across the warned area. The rain has ended... however... residual
runoff continued to flood low lying areas.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Highway 43 at Buffalo Creek west of Anderson...
north main and Murphy Boulevard in Joplin...
business Highway 60 just north of Neosho...
Highway 97 at the Spring River north of Stotts City...
and Highway 37 at the Spring River southwest of Avilla.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
