* Flood Warning for...
Chicot County in southeastern Arkansas...
Ashley County in southeastern Arkansas...
Morehouse Parish in northeastern Louisiana...
northern Sunflower County in northwestern Mississippi...
northwestern Washington County in northwestern Mississippi...
Bolivar County in northwestern Mississippi...

* until 230 PM CST Thursday

* at 825 am CST, local law enforcement reported flooding across many
roads and near homes in the Delta. Three to six inches of rain
have fallen overnight and this morning. This has resulted in
flooding across the area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Greenville, Cleveland, Bastrop, Crossett, Leland, Ruleville,
Hamburg, Lake Village, Dermott, Eudora, Shelby, Shaw, Drew, Wilmot,
North Crossett, West Crossett, Parchman, Scott, Mound Bayou and
Metcalfe.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River near Arkansas City
* from Friday March 09 to Saturday March 10.
* At 7:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 27.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 37.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is expected to rise to near flood stage Friday
March 09.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 38.2 feet
on Jul 21 2015.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet... the low Silt plain in front of Arkansas City
inside the levee system begins to flood along with widespread
bottomland flooding at Huntington Point Mississippi.
* Impact... at 35.0 feet... the Road to Donaldson Point is cut off.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana and
Mississippi, including the following areas in southeast
Arkansas, Ashley and Chicot. In northeast Louisiana,
Catahoula, East Carroll, Franklin la, Madison la, Morehouse,
Richland, Tensas and West Carroll. In Mississippi, Bolivar,
Humphreys, Issaquena, Sharkey, Sunflower and Washington.

* Until noon CST today

* multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing heavy
rainfall could bring 3 to 5 inches of rain, with locally
higher amounts possible.

* The flooding of roads, low lying areas, and areas with poor
drainage will be possible. If encountering flooded roads,
remember to turn around, don't drown.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
