Winter Weather Advisory, Wind Chill Advisory

... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST Monday...

* what... light snow and black ice. Very cold wind chills expected.
Additional snow accumulations of less than an inch. Winds
gusting as high as 55 mph. Wind chills as low as 15 below zero
expected.

* Where... the Tennessee border counties of North Carolina.

* When... for the Winter Weather Advisory, until 7 PM EST this
evening. For the Wind Chill Advisory, until 10 am EST Monday.

* Additional details... plan on slippery Road conditions. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Gusty
winds could bring down tree branches. The cold wind chills
could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

A Winter Weather Advisory for black ice means that refreezing of
roads will occur, resulting in the development of widespread black
ice. Be prepared for very slippery roadways. Some roads that
appear clear may be covered by a thin layer of ice.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.

High Wind Warning
Issued: 10:16 AM EST Jan. 20, 2019 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 7 am EST Monday...

* locations... the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountain area, from
Henderson County and extreme western Polk County northward to
Avery and western Caldwell counties.

* Hazards... strong to damaging winds.

* Timing... very strong to damaging northwest winds will continue
through the afternoon. Winds will diminish very slowly tonight.

* Winds... northwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Impacts... damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Numerous power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
