Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 6:07 PM EDT May. 27, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Mercer County in central New Jersey...
south Central Somerset County in northern New Jersey...
southwestern Middlesex County in northern New Jersey...
east central Bucks County in southeastern Pennsylvania...

* until 1000 PM EDT.

* At 603 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that between 2 and 6 inches of rain fell earlier today, with the
heaviest rain falling across Mercer County. Creeks, streams, and
rivers such as the Stony Brook in Mercer County, the Assunpink
Creek in Mercer County, and the Millstone River in Somerset County
continue to runoff through this evening. Road closures continue to
be likely in Mercerville along the assunpink. Causeways over the
Millstone are closed. In addition, trails can flood in the
Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park when the assunpink runs
high.

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Trenton, Ewing, Princeton, Hightstown, Cranbury, Pennington,
Yardley, Hopewell, Rocky Hill, Washington Crossing, Princeton
Meadows, Windsor, Kingston, Plainsboro center, Edinburg, White
Horse, Twin Rivers, Mercerville-Hamilton Square, Lawrenceville and
Morrisville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

... Coastal flood advisory in effect until midnight EDT tonight...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal
flood advisory, which is in effect until midnight EDT tonight.

* Locations... coastal areas of Middlesex County, Monmouth County
and Ocean County.

* Coastal flooding... minor flooding at high tide this evening.

* Timing... high tide on the New Jersey oceanfront occurs between
6:30 PM and 7:30 PM this evening. High tide on the back bays
and on Raritan Bay occurs later than the high tide on the
oceanfront.

* Surge... around 1.0 to 1.5 feet above the astronomical tide.

* Waves... wave heights on the ocean waters off Delaware are
forecast to be 4 to 5 feet.

* Impacts... localized roadway flooding is expected. Some roads
may be closed due to high water.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some Road
closures. Usually... the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged... leading to
costly repairs.
