Wind Advisory
Issued: 2:50 PM MDT Apr. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 am MDT Friday...

* location... much of western New Mexico, the upper and lower Rio
Grande and lower Chama river valleys, central and south Central
Highlands.

* Winds... southerly 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... winds will continue to increase this afternoon and
peak this evening before tapering off overnight.

* Visibility... locally reduced in areas of blowing dust.

* Local impacts... strong cross winds will create difficult
travel on east to west oriented roadways, including Interstate
40.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.





Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 3:16 AM MDT Apr. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am this morning to
9 PM MDT this evening...

* area and timing... northwest plateau, northwest and west Central
Highlands late this morning through this evening.

* 20 foot winds... south to southwest increasing to 25 to 35 mph
with gusts of 45 to 55 mph by this afternoon, diminishing this
evening.

* Relative humidity... lowering to 6 to 10 percent.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly
and will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extreme
fire behavior will be possible. Outdoor burning should not be
done.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning.
