Issued: 2:50 AM CDT Jul. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

* heat index values... 100 to 106 during the afternoon hours.

* Impacts... the combination of hot temperatures and high
humidity will lead to an increased risk of heat related stress
and illness. The very Young, the elderly, those without air
conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor
activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors
will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check on relatives and
neighbors.

... Significant weather advisory for southwestern Davidson... north
central Williamson and southeastern Cheatham counties until 600 PM
CDT...

At 526 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Bellevue, or 9 miles west of Nashville, moving southeast at 20 mph.

Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Ashland City, Nashville, Forest Hills, Belle Meade, Kingston Springs,
Pegram, Bellevue, Berry Hill, Beaman park, Bells Bend and Natchez
trace at Highway 96.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
