continues for
the French Broad River near Newport TN.
* From Saturday early afternoon until Sunday morning.
* At 08:45 PM Friday the stage was 7.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Saturday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 11.0 feet by Saturday evening. The river
will fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.
* At 10.0 feet... agricultural land near the gage on Highway 321 is
flooded.

... Flood Warning extended until late Saturday night... the Flood
Warning continues for
the Pigeon River at Newport TN.
* Until late Saturday night.
* At 08:00 PM Friday the stage was 9.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 10.0 feet by
after midnight tonight... but is then expected to begin falling.
The river will fall below flood stage by Saturday evening.
* At 8.0 feet... minor flooding occurs downstream from gage on Highway
25/70 and in the community of Edwina. Jimtown Road may be affected.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through 7am Saturday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southwest North Carolina and east Tennessee,
including the following areas, in southwest North Carolina,
Cherokee and Clay. In east Tennessee, Bledsoe, Blount Smoky
Mountains, Bradley, Cocke Smoky Mountains, east Polk,
Hamilton, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, NW
Blount, north Sevier, northwest Cocke, northwest Monroe, Rhea,
Roane, Sequatchie, Sevier Smoky Mountains, southeast Greene,
southeast Monroe, and west Polk.

* Through 7am Saturday morning.

* Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will overspread the region
tonight and through early Saturday. Additional rainfall
accumulation of around 1 inch is possible.

* Given the already saturated soil and high stream flows, the
additional moderate to heavy rains will likely cause
significant stream flooding, roadway flooding, mud slides, and
main Stem river flooding. Potentially life threatening
flooding is possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain... which may lead to flooding in and near the watch area. Be
alert for rising water or water over roadways. Keep informed...
and be ready for action if flooding is observed or if a Flood
