Areal Flood Warning

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 400 am MDT Wednesday for
west central Fremont County...

* at 3 am... the Wind River near DuBois was at 5.65 feet. Flood stage
is 5 feet. The river hit a record crest of 5.78 Monday evening.
At 5.5 feet, low land flooding intensifies and becomes more
widespread in and around DuBois. Ongoing flooding was reported at
the confluence of the Horse Creek and the big Wind River.

* At 3 am... the Wind River near Crowheart was at 10.7 feet. Flood
stage is 10 feet. The river at this location appears to be at a
flat crest. At 10.5 feet, water could begin to severely impact
Highway 26 northwest of Morton to the Highway 26 bridge.

* At 3 am... the Wind River near Kinnear was at 9.1 feet. Flood stage
is 9 feet. The river at this location is expected to crest near
9.3 feet around midday on Tuesday. At 9 feet, agricultural
flooding occurs especially along the right bank.

* At 9 PM... the Wind River at Riverton was at 9.4 feet. Flood stage
is 9 feet. The river is expected to rise through the day and crest
near 10.9 feet late Tuesday afternoon. At 10 feet, extensive
agricultural flooding occurs downstream of Riverton near the black
bridge and Hidden Valley areas.

Additional rainfall amounts of one quarter to one half inch are
possible in the area today as scattered showers and thunderstorms
form once again.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
