Synopsis
A strong cold front will be moving through South Florida Saturday morning which in turn will bring in very windy conditions to the local waters Saturday night into Sunday along with northerly swell of 3 to 4 feet in the Atlantic waters.
Gulf Stream Hazards
Seas will quickly build Saturday afternoon behind the front and should be at 9 to 11 feet Saturday night. The seas will then slowly subside on Sunday night and be less than 7 feet by Monday. The approximate location of the west wall of the Gulf Stream as of Feb 10, 2012 at 1200 UTC... 7 nautical miles east northeast of Fowey Rocks. 9 nautical miles northeast of Port Everglades. 2 nautical miles east southeast of Lake Worth. 5 nautical miles east northeast of Jupiter Inlet. North northwest winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet. Dominant period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of showers in the morning.
Saturday Night
North northwest winds 21 to 26 knots. Near shore... seas 4 to 6 feet building to 6 to 8 feet. In the Gulf Stream...seas 5 to 7 feet building to 8 to 10 feet. Dominant period 8 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy.
Sunday
North winds 20 to 25 knots with gusts to around 35 knots. Seas 9 to 11 feet. North swell 3 to 4 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.
