Scattered to at times numerous showers and a few thunderstorms will continue across east central and southeastern New Mexico through much of the morning. Most of the activity will stay near and east of a line from Logan to Cloudcroft as it moves to the northeast at 35 to 40 mph. The heavier rain producing storms will be capable of rain at rates up to three quarters of an inch per hour with wind gusts between 35 and 50 mph and an occasional lightning strike. Expect high water levels in small streams...arroyos and low water crossings throughout eastern Quay...Curry...Roosevelt and Chaves counties...where showers will continue to track over some of the same areas repeatedly. Water will also pond on roadways.

Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall...large hail and damaging winds in the afternoon. Highs in the 70s. South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 40 mph. Caution advised on area lakes.
