...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR CENTRAL PECOS AND NORTH CENTRAL TERRELL COUNTIES... At 627 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Rises are expected on Independence Creek overnight. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... mainly rural areas of Central Pecos and North Central Terrell Counties This includes the following streams and drainages... Big Canyon, Harral Draw, North Fork Independence Creek, Fourmile Draw, Nineteen Draw, Sixshooter Draw and Independence Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 184 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN TEXAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 8 COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST TEXAS BREWSTER PECOS REEVES TERRELL IN WESTERN TEXAS CRANE REAGAN UPTON WARD THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ALPINE, BIG LAKE, CRANE, DRYDEN, FORT STOCKTON, MCCAMEY, MONAHANS, PECOS, RANKIN, AND SANDERSON.
