The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
central Montgomery County in central Maryland...
north central Prince Georges County in central Maryland...

* until 900 PM EDT

* at 500 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain which will cause flooding. Up to 1.5 inches of rain has
already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of one inch are
possible.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Germantown, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Olney, College Park,
Greenbelt, Beltsville, Damascus, Poolesville, Aspen Hill, North
Bethesda, Montgomery Village, Laurel, North Potomac, Fairland,
White Oak, Redland, Colesville, Kemp mill and North Kensington.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Maryland and the District of
Columbia, including the following areas, in Maryland, Anne
Arundel, Carroll, central and southeast Howard, central and
southeast Montgomery, Frederick MD, northern Baltimore,
northwest Harford, northwest Howard, northwest Montgomery,
Prince Georges, southeast Harford, and southern Baltimore. The
District of Columbia.

* Until 3 am EDT Monday

* numerous rounds of heavy rain have affected the Baltimore
Washington Metro area this afternoon... with additional rainfall
expected this evening.

* Additional rainfall may result in rapid rises of water. Water
may quickly result in flooding... especially in low lying and
poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
